By Lauren Merrick
I recently had my first solo show called Nurture Nature at The Glass Onion Society.
It was a bit whirlwind in the lead up, (literally for my wonderful framer who lost power for over a week before the exhibition during the crazy storms)
I think a lot about my work before I actually do it, which meant that the time I left myself to create the work wasn't that long. But it is how I work best, lots of thinking and then smashing out the work. My wonderful husband helped me keep on track and brought me many cups of tea while I cut, glued, painted, cried, and finished piece after piece until I had my nine completed works.
The opening night was a really fun experience. The beautiful Sarah Humphreys played a set, wine and hummus were being shared among family and friends, and for me the night was a chance for me to breathe and look at what had been in my mind come into life on paper.
A special thanks to Ana and Ben from The Onion, David James Photography, Chilly's Custom Framing and Sarah Humphreys.
The show is finishing up on the 4th of June, so there's still a bit of time to see the originals. There are a few of the originals left for sale too, otherwise there is an option to order Limited Edition Giclee Fine Art Prints.
