What to wear to a gig- my rock and roll uniform (with a Bohemian jacket to liven things up)...
In somewhat of a former life, I used to be at gig's several times a week and despite a few rastafarian/ punk influences over the years, (thanks Gwen Stefani) this became a bit of a uniform. This look isn't anything new- black skinnies, a black cami and boots (sturdy enough to dance in) are pretty standard. However, as long as it weren't the height of summer, I'd throw on a vintage jacket to give the look some extra cred. When Em asked me to share my go-to look for heading to a gig or festival, the New Moon embroidered jacket was the perfect addition to my uniform.
I am inclined to think this velvety embroidered jacket channels a little Jimi Hendrix who shopped back in the 60s at the vintage stores in London along Carnaby Street and King's Road- and preferred soft fabrics. His signature prince of Bohemia look still inspires people today and I have to admit, I love it. For as minimal as I like my style to be, I can not help but crush on the flared, soft, romanticised rock and roll pieces. The floral, psychedelic prints Hendrix wore may be a little too far out for my style, but keeping things simple with the black and white jacket works for me.
