WEARING | CLOTHING FOR REAL LIFE

By Emily Beetleshack

It might not be glamorous or even flattering but this is one of my most worn outfits for work/life. Not a high heel in sight - just a crisp white shirt (never quite as ironed as this one), a comfortable skirt and a pair of New Balance…

Very easy wearing, all 100% cotton and very comfortable for running around at work or chasing after the kids, especially the skit.

These pieces have become a bit of a uniform… although I must confess to having a new uniform each week… I generally dress from the 'floordrobe' until said uniform requires washing. Then I move on.

Just me?

The original author of The Beetle Shack, Emily is a chronic over sharer and collector of unnecessary consumer goods. In a past life Emily was a high school Visual Arts teacher. She always enjoyed the ‘naughty’ kids the most; the ones who were resistant to following the rules and questioned the boundaries. They were interesting, challenging and funny. When she was pregnant with her first child she could be heard saying, “I hope I have a cheeky child, one that speaks his mind and is rebellious in nature”. Unsurprisingly, she did. In the archives of the Beetle Shack you'll find her tales of raising her own ‘spirited’ children whilst swanning about the house dressed as a fruit salad.

  2. High heel? What's that?! I'm a huge fan of comfort, especially in these mid-preggo days. I have one pair of pants that fit, so uniform by default. Got my eye on the BH Oversized Stripe dress. Think it would sit well over a bump?

    2. Would love a selfie if you have time! Also wondering how thick the linen is. If it is a winter weight, heavy or light? Thanks :)

  7. Adore this look. I myself just cannot bring myself to wear sneakers with anything but gym gear. Maybe I just need to get over myself!
