By Emily Beetleshack
The original author of The Beetle Shack, Emily is a chronic over sharer and collector of unnecessary consumer goods. In a past life Emily was a high school Visual Arts teacher. She always enjoyed the ‘naughty’ kids the most; the ones who were resistant to following the rules and questioned the boundaries. They were interesting, challenging and funny. When she was pregnant with her first child she could be heard saying, “I hope I have a cheeky child, one that speaks his mind and is rebellious in nature”. Unsurprisingly, she did. In the archives of the Beetle Shack you'll find her tales of raising her own ‘spirited’ children whilst swanning about the house dressed as a fruit salad.

Sometimes I don't really manage the upkeep required for shorts in Summer. No, I don't mean massaging my cellulite (apparently that's a thing?) and undertaking a strenuous exercise routine - I mean hair removal. Sometimes I just forget… or am too lazy to remove the hair from my legs. On these days, I need pants. Light weight pants.

At the moment my go to pieces are the Poppy Pant and these lovely linen blend numbers above. The Striped Masquerade Trouser. Very easy wear, boyfriend style trouser that look great with a tee or tank.

  1. You look cute as a button in your capri pants and sleeveless blouse. I got into the habit many years ago to shave my legs every night when I shower. It's now second nature for me, so forgetting is not an option. The hair has little time to regrow in such a short period between shaves that the stubble is barely noticeable on my legs each evening. In the summer, (I'm in the Northern Hemisphere) I tend to wear short skirts and shorts only if I am dressed up for fun. When I was younger, I wore shorts all the time during the warmer months. After awhile I graduated to wearing jeans all year round for every day errands. It's not really an age thing or have to do with my weight (I'm a size 4), but a personal preference. I do have one pair of light weight slacks that I love to wear in the summer. I wish I could find more like them. They work perfectly! Hopping over from the WW linky party. Feel free to drop by my place at Curious as a Cathy!

  2. Love these outfits. I love light pants in summer. I think I wear my poppies at least 3 times a week - def getting my money's worth!

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement, advice and solidarity.
