4 WAYS TO WEAR A STRIPED TEE

By Emily Beetleshack
The original author of The Beetle Shack, Emily is a chronic over sharer and collector of unnecessary consumer goods. In a past life Emily was a high school Visual Arts teacher. She always enjoyed the ‘naughty’ kids the most; the ones who were resistant to following the rules and questioned the boundaries. They were interesting, challenging and funny. When she was pregnant with her first child she could be heard saying, “I hope I have a cheeky child, one that speaks his mind and is rebellious in nature”. Unsurprisingly, she did. In the archives of the Beetle Shack you'll find her tales of raising her own ‘spirited’ children whilst swanning about the house dressed as a fruit salad.

For most women a great striped tee is a wardrobe essential. A basic building block that will form the base of many an outfit. I'm wearing the Bohemian Traders Striped Tee in Navy - made from quality cotton with a comfortable amount of stretch and a sweet swing through the body. Of course you could pull any striped tee from your wardrobe (or floordrobe, as the case may be)...

1. PATTERN  CLASH - I love a good pattern clash. For me, the trick is to keep the colours tonal - i'm pretending this navy striped tee is black on this occasion (it's close, right?). I've added a pop of pink in the form of a silk hair scarf and giant gypsy bag. Finishing it off with layers of Nomadic Coin Necklaces - more is more in this playful casual look.

2. LAYERED - If you're one of the many women who'd rather not show off the tops of your ams, then this is a super simple solution for your summer dresses. I'm layering my striped tee under the Liberty Linen Dress and teaming it with booties and a tan leather bag. Very very simple an equally wearable. This dress also comes in pink which would look delicious layers over the red striped tee if colour is more you're thing.

3. STRIPE ON STRIPE - say no more. It's a double whammy.

4. TONAL - A very easy throw on outfit that could take me from the beach to the shops. These Poppy Pants are seriously comfortable and made from super light weight cotton voile - perfect for those days when I can't be bothered to save my legs!

  11. I never think to pattern clash but I think you've sold me. Which is probably a good thing because at this late stage of pregnancy I have very few things that fit and of course nothing matches!
