We're Going On A Bear Hunt

Okay, so we're not really going on a bear hunt but we are going to have an adventure or two this weekend.

Since becoming a family of 5 we've traded our usual wandering ways for home days filled with quiet morning cups of organic herbal tea and wholesome wholemeal home baked treats. We've been enjoying slow starts to the day, you know, reading the paper on our sun drenched back deck and the like. Ehum, or something.

Perhaps Dave and I have spent the 12 months running around like madmen trying to avoid tears and tantrums by any means possible. But you know, this is a blog and I think the other version sounds better, so we'll go with that, k?

Anyways, now that Elke is 1 life can begin again and we can finally leave the house. This weekend we're planning a bush walk and a fishing expedition. With any luck the sun will be shining, birds will be chirping and the children will refrain from bickering.

Whatever way you play it, getting out into creation makes all the difference for us and the kids.

Got any plans for the weekend? Reading the paper, per chance?

  1. Oh sounds lovely. Our youngest is 8 months so we're nearly there too! Have fun.

  2. My third is only 7 months and my second has CP and only just walking so we're still tied to prams at the moment. We'll be hitting the Newcastle Farmers Market, bike riding at the park and hopefully a run in the sand dunes. All good things to run the sillies out.

  3. Street wanders. Delicious steaming cups of caffeine. Big belly laughs xx

  4. Fire Station open day. What can I say, I have two boys! Enjoy your bush rambling!

  5. We've just started doing this again as well! It's the best.

  6. we always want to make it to the local farmers market... but then the backyard adirondacks call

  7. We plan on building a deck this weekend! It is just the beginning of spring here in little-est of 3 boys turned 1 last month..I am ready to set them all free in the great outdoors! Winter has been long and is time!

  8. Sounds lovely. Slow start here then footy and tomorrow lots of house jobs that need the helping hand of hubby getting ready for bubba #3.....

  9. Hi Emily, just found your blog and have read about you and in particular your mum's account of your childhood cancer. What an amazing story. Your blog is so personal, in a really good way. It is quite inspirational actually, and your photographs have a great quality too. I just blog about baking! V dull by comparison. I shall be back!

  10. It makes such a difference when those babies turn 1! My third child is almost there, and I have to honestly say I am really looking forward to it. I hope your adventurous weekend was great.

  11. I love the above photo, and the mood lighting..............stunning. I must admit these past few weeks have been out most Saturday with football and then Sunday I'm happy to be at home, finish the washing, ironing the school uniforms and pottering however I made sure we got out today for a bike ride (had to get the tyres pumped up as it had been so long and they were flat). Also took the kids to the skate park with a coffee and bakery treat before. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia

  12. Can't wait to hear if you caught any fish! x
