Layers of Linen

The seasons have well and truly turned. The evening air is frosty and each night it's with great delight that my exhausted 'motherly' frame meets with my bed.

Because our master bed is easily the best room in this 1970's house, I like to treat it with love and care every now and again. This time, I've added layers of white pure linen and dusty pink mohair to ensure our nights are toasty warm, making mid night feeds just bearable. As an extra treat for the sunny room I even vacuumed under the bed (unheard of) and bought some potted orchids for an extra femme touch.

Come 9pm you'll find me propped up in bed with a hot cuppa, my Parisian Pear candle alight, filling the room with a delicious aroma and a slab (yes, no single squares) of super dark chocolate. Moments later i'll be deep in slumber, drooling on the pillow.

Few things bring me more pleasure than fresh linen and a well made bed... oh, and a full nights sleep!

  1. I love looking at your room transformations. From bright spotted walls one week to dusty hues the next. Sublime x

  2. I hear ya, lady! We've laden our bed with linen & wool this winter - it's the only place I want to be at the end of the day.
I can't speak of a 'motherly' frame but a fresh, well made bed, in my opinion, can a cure bad mood, exhausted frame & many an illness.

  10. I love how much effort you put into the master bedroom! Our bedroom is often the last room in the house to get cleaned and it was the second last room to get decorated!

  11. I love this. I was lying in bed this morning thinking that it was time to put some effort into the master bedroom again. It needs a spruce up... Doesn't help that I let Mr Cool choose the last set of curtains and he chose plum ... makes for a very dark landscape!

Love the mirrors and the light you have in your room... dreamy.

Do try to not drool dark chocolate on those fresh sheets though! (I cannot eat in bed, I have a 'Crumbs in Bed' Phobia)

  13. I have been putting more effort into making our bedroom a more cosy space. Not somewhere to hide the washing when it needs folding. It's amazing what some fresh linen and a vase of flowers will do! x

  14. I dream of having a beautiful, light filled bedroom like yours. Ours is so dark & miserable, we bought a tin of lovely light grey paint about 10 months ago & i'm still waiting for hubby to get to work on it. Our bedroom faces the street & is easy to see into so the blockout curtains are always drawn & the awning pulled down. I feel i.must buy an orchid to add a touch of femininity & get my mohair throw out of the wardrobe.

  15. Right now I'd even forgo a room as beautiful as yours if my one and three year olds would just let me sleep through the night!! Lovely images that provide inspiration for me when our renovation on our 100 yr old house is finished.

  16. That combination of pink, white and grey is so lovely. It's geminine but the grey stops it being too girly. I love orchids - they add a bit of luxury and sculpture to a room. And yes, a pretty bedroom and clean bedding with some fresh flowers or plants too - that is one of life's big pleasures. xx

  17. Ahhhh...I LOVE THIS! This is exactly what I want next time my bedding gets a makeover...layers and layers of linen. Thank you for the link. It's shocking how much a good night's sleep makes a difference, isn't it? In my 20's, I could go what felt like weeks without sleeping! But now that I'm 32, I feel like a cranky baby if I don't get enough!!! :)
