You know those moments when you are completely overwhelmed with love for your children? Like when you creep into their room to the rhythm of their breath and plant a smoochy kiss on their warm, soft cheek and all of a sudden, there you are, transfixed by their complete and utter perfection.
In that moment there is nothing to do but exhale so deeply that your chest is empty, ready and waiting to be filled with clean fresh love air.
Yes, I said 'Love Air'. Obviously I just made that up, but you know what I mean don't you?!
Oh, I just had one of those moments.
My first born. Still as perfect as the first moment he was placed on my chest. Young man, I have endless love for you. truly endless.
Oh, beautiful. Love air, such an apt description.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for 'love air' with my babes! One day...

You make me want so many babies I can't wait to be a mumma one day! Your posts are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling! And I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes when I pick Noah up from Kindy I have to blink away the tears that threaten when he tells me how much he missed me and loves me! Ahh mush! 'Love air' - love it!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. It's overwhelming and beautiful. And this will, from now on, be known as Love Air. Xx
ReplyDeleteThose moments are the best and always come when you really need them. I just read your post on Zephie's birthday, it was so beautiful and you are one gorgeous mama xx
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I love about your blog Em is the way you capture those moments that we all feel as mothers whether they be ones of exasperation or exhilaration you take those moments and add your own touch -
ReplyDeleteLove Air is a perfect example. A friend and I were just talking about those moments, her 4 year old daughter told her "I'm so happy you are my mummy because I'd been dreaming of having a mummy like you." They say the cutest things. Love Air indeed. Thank you for naming it x
And the best thing about Love Air? Still feeling those exact same emotions even when your babies are 18 and 15! It never goes away. EVER! :)))
ReplyDeleteoh these words are delightful. they helped me do some lounge-sitting with my miserable sick bub last night. breathe.it.in.
ReplyDeleteLove Air! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI got some love air last night when Baby C came and crawled into my lap and gave me the best snuggle a sixteen month old can give.
I love the feeling you have after a good dose of love air!

And then one day he walks in from the outside shower (with pubic hair!!!!) .... (whilst drying his nether regions in front of you) and says: "Hey Mum that new shower soap smells great!" ... then walks off naked with bum wiggling and great big clod hopping feet leaving wet patches all through the house.. and you just smile....
ReplyDeleteand breathe love air deeply :-) XXxx

Deleteyou have me in (kind of awkward) hysterics! oh dear, i can't EVEN imagine it.

That comment is all sorts of awesome. I am with you though, pubes on my little boy, so not going there.
DeleteI live for love air! What is it about sleeping that seems to multiply the probability of experiencing that smooshy perfect feeling for them?

DeleteWhat a sweet post. I love those moments. I hold those snippets in time in my head and hope that I can remember how my kids looked in that moment at that age. Time goes by much too quickly. :(
