Yesterday my text went a little something like 'I've called in an SOS to the husband- he'll be home in 10 minutes lest I loose my mind for good. Gonna be late' - naturally, a barrage of 'i-know-how-u-feel-I'm-there-too-kids-are-cute-but-they-are-so-annnoying' texts fly back and forth.
Then a text came through that changed my life.
'We need a strategy- lets try this. You feel yourself getting angry. You think you might yell at your kids. STOP. think of Ryan Gosling*... smile, giggle even. See, now there's no need to yell.'
My park mums know whats up. Fee, you know whats up (lize, johnny depp is pretty good too- he's helped me out of a spot of trouble once before).
Want to join us? All you need to do is STOP before getting cranky and think of Ryan, go on, do it for your kids.
* being the sacrificial lamb that i am- i googled 'rayn gosling naked'- this was the best i could do. But really, we should objectify men more often.... for the good of our children... you know?!

Excellent strategy...I definitely could have used that today! The dropping of the afternoon nap is killing me...hopefully Ryan can make it better!
ReplyDeleteRyan makes everything better.

i don't have kids, but i'm going to stop and think of ryan gosling for the greater good.
ReplyDeleteYou m'lady are a selfless woman. ;)

Bah ha ha ha ha! Too funny Em! On my way to the park yesterday I was thinking that I should have cheekily whipped up a few "Mummy Sticker Charts" (with an inspirational Ryan pic on them) to hand out to the Park Ladies. Heck, the kids get stickers and work towards rewards. Why shouldn't we?
ReplyDeleteYou should have Fee. Make sure you print an extra one for anon below.

Sleazy, disappointing and just a little bit sad. I imagine if your husband was posting a lusty female-perv entry on his blog if he had one.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to disappoint you anon. Maybe Brad Pitt is more your style?

p.s Clearly it was a joke. Dave's right here now and was sitting right next to me when I posted it. He's a pretty secure dude.
I like your style, Em. x
DeleteMy latest is Chris Hemsworth. I shall think of him when the going gets tough. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I was just thinking today that he was the only reason I used to watch Home & Away! Even back then! But I love how grotty he looks in Snow White & the Huntsman!
DeleteI shall google him naked too! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow lucky are you.....?? I think your husband looks like Ryan. Just a bit......Yes?
ReplyDeleteI really like this tip so will try with Roberty Downey Jnr
Just the title of this post made me feel better :) Tee hee!
ReplyDeleteLol, gosh that made me laugh! I will remember this and make sure I test it out, most likely before lunch tomrw! Thanks em!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the way you think!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this! And it is just what I need at the moment. My almost two year old is driving me batting. My older kids were angels compared to him.
ReplyDeleteBest post. Ever. X
ReplyDeleteThat is gold!

Plenty more around and lots v funny/good for a laugh & some distraction.
....but I think I would rather have a shirtless Matthew McConnaghy any day. Or???? Cant think of any other hot actors just now. Maybe I am just too old for Ryan.
Haha! Love it! and couldn't stop thinking what a great group of funny and supportive mums you have close by! makes life that bit sweeter x
ReplyDeleteHe he this makes me laugh, I showed Nath the txt conversation last night he thought it was hilarious,
ReplyDeleteI did well this morning I didn't raise my voice once, on the way to school I asked he boys if I had earned a sticker they said I had to go the whole day, I think it's going to take a while xx

ReplyDeleteapparently you cant have enough ryan gosling LOL
Haha I absolutely love this idea! It's just so wonderful I mean how can you not smile when thinking about him. Now if you want to smile and giggle a lot all you have to do is think about this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJQvXCoNDzM&feature=player_embedded
ReplyDeleteEnjoy :)
Funny! Works for me! :)
ReplyDeletethis is too cute! a pretty genius idea haha, ryan in crazy stupid love makes me drool!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the smiles. Great advice.
Great idea! He's adorable, but I don't think this will work for me at the moment. I recently watched "Remember the Titans" and now I picture him about 16 years old, LOL. I need to watch "Crazy, Stupid, Love" again to get the sexy Ryan back!
ReplyDeleteThis just made me laugh so much, possibly the best anger avoidance tactic around.

ReplyDeleteRyan and Sean Penn!!! Beautiful men!!!
Gonna use it!
I love this strategy going to put it into action at once thankyou park lady!!!
ReplyDeleteHahah, I LOVE THIS!!
ReplyDeleteHa, this is most definitely the best post ever.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'm 'illegally' reading this at work & laughed out loud like a moron! I like this! But I think I'll think of Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy(yes, I'm a bogan!). I sit there watching that show with my husband & he always says, 'I can see you smiling in the dark you know!'. Oh well, what do you do! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny Em. I am certainly going to try this, but I'll be amazed if it can hoist me outta some of the moods I get into, haha!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough my friend sent me a cheeky text today, posing a question about helping her pick towel racks for her bathroom... seemed innocent enough... but lo and behold when I clicked on the link it took me over to two rather well endowed hunks who were THE towel racks. I actually squealed with shocked delight, as it's rare for me to receive silly messages anymore... and then felt 15 again! Gotta love naughty friends, such good value xoxo
What is it with this guy? Even paddy has a man crush!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily,
ReplyDeleteMet you with said 'Park Mums' at Easter time, Nat has introduced me to your blog. Its great! Love this post and parenting strategy and looking forward to joining up for more park mornings in the future!
x
I wish I could have read your post, but for some reason, I had real trouble staying focused! :)
ReplyDeletePeace, Love & Ryan Gosling!
Am I weird if I admit I don't find him attractive? Give me Johnny Depp any day. Or better yet, Zac Efron. Yes, I'm a cradle snatcher alright??! I dig the eyes man!
ReplyDeleteLaugh.... Out ..... Loud .... xx
