Blogging: A journey

It was in a dimly lit room while high on caffeine that I started my journey into blogging. With trepidation I sat in front of the neon glow emanating from our computer screen. Who was I going to be in this blog space? How should I present myself? Hold on, Who am I? As I struggled to understand the blogspot format, rustled up some pretty photo's and bumbled about with writing my first posts - I decided that I was me and that was enough.




Once the sun was high in the sky and the Lady Baby asleep in her little wooden bassinet, the fresh air called me. In a rare display of domesticity, I headed outside to clean the windows and burn off some of my coffee induced energy.  I may be me, and me is enough - but my windows were filthy. No self respecting woman steps out into cyber space with grime between her and the universe, does she?


I was going to write about art, fashion, design and interiors. Under no circumstances would I succumb to the lure of full blow Narcissism, uuh-uh! No way, not me. Blog 'me' would be cultured and interesting, refined and restrained. Knowledgeable about current affairs, informed on the latest trends and slim. Yes, slim is very important. My children would be well behaved, my husband the ultimate provider and my home - immaculate. It would all be very real, very honest.


For a little while day or two I upheld these ideals (except the slim part) but then I ran out of material. It would appear that a stay at home mum scarcely has time to shower and get dressed, let alone have any idea about what is going on outside the four walls of her filthy home. I let narcissism in, started writing about my children, my youth, my husband, my life - *gasp* myself! The good, the bad, the trials and triumphs, the tears, tantrums and bear hugs.

 I promptly posted my blog to facebook and invited my friends to mock me at their leisure. 

They did, and they do.
