Rarely does a day go by in our home that we don't get out the pencils and draw. It's part of our daily routine and the simplest way to redirect my children when they request couch slouching rather than creative activity.
We always have a roll of large scale paper down in the studio or hiding in the corner of the living room. Until recently we had been taping it to the table top (one piece lasts all day) but then my bestie Jo suggested taping it to the floor so the kids could really go nuts!
I love watching my young ones lose themselves in colour and line. Zeph's quick and fierce stroke is complemented perfectly by Pippi's soft, rhythmic one.
Together they are geniuses of abstraction.
Thanks STAEDTLER for the colour packed goodie bag, we have been loving it on a daily basis!

I need to start doing this with Ms Threesy. The big boys used to relish big paper taped to our very big old coffee table. Will used to trace his head and then attach the bits to it- eyes, ears...legs. I still have one of those somewhere. The back fence is also good for naked paint fest but it usually ended up going all Woodstock and body painty. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteHells yes tape it to the floor!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea but I caught my puppy eating an orange crayon recently so we are table top bound once again! The joys of kids and puppies!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! Zephy looks so into it too! The roll of "scale" (whats that btw?) paper sounds awesome. Ive got a couple of huge industrial rolls of brown thick lovely card-like paper, (great for wrapping) and a roll of off-white newsprint paper free from the local newspaper company...its perfect for tots creativity! I often use my big old art-school easel and plop it against a wall on the ground with paper/clips and let Jasper go nuts with paint/crayons (usually outside). Might try George with a crayon too soon...8 months and rearing to go.
