We've been mixing things up in the living room department round here. Out with the old, in with the new-old. We've been selling stuff on ebay and collecting other bits and pieces in an attempt to pull this room together. We had it set up like this but it didn't quite work.
Captain kk to the rescue!
The Captain sent me the below sketch along with the selection of inspiration images. I have pestered her ever since, seeking her approval on every decision.
Slowly but surely the room is looking much better. I got rid of these dining chairs, have taken some fresh artworks up to the framers (that monograph above the dresser wont stay there, kk would never approve) and have found a fabulous rug that i'll show you tomorrow!

ohhh I wish we had more space! You are lucky to have a big room to work with. So far, so fab x
ReplyDeleteIsn't this blogging community the best?!? Looking good kid.
ReplyDeleteYou can get one of those featherston rip off's at matt blatt (although still pricey). xx
Love those chairs! Oooo new artwork, show me!!! I was thinking maybe you needed one of those cool prints from that amazing new illustrator... what's her name? smallgreengardenbuilding? ;-) xxx

ReplyDeleteOh I love a good room make over/rearrange! Looking good so far.
ReplyDeleteLooking good. Looking good.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Amazing what a re-jig and some ebaying can do. x
ReplyDeleteLooks great - still super envious of your retro cabinet/ sideboard thingy... I even linked to it (and you) in a post I did the other day about that turquoise/ aqua/ teal colour. I'm doing a wee giveaway on my blog at the moment giving away a gorgeous geometric print, that may really suit your space (although you sound pretty sorted for art) - I've opened it to NZ and Australia - you should check it out :) Jenny
ReplyDeleteYou guys are super cool!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the rug!
ReplyDeleteFunny how sometimes your eyes get used to how things are and it takes a fresh-eye to spark some inspiration in you! Love your style Em, question: how do you find time to 'hunt' for new posessions with 2 littlies? Do you thrift or go online, or just straight to a furniture store? I would LOVE to change things up...but $ makes everything I want unachievable:(
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff!

Hey lovely Saskia! We spend as little as possible and the only way we could redo this room was to sell stuff to get new stuff. We are still in the green after selling our dining chairs ( that i bought on ebay for a steal and sold for a large profit), our second lounge, the rocking chair from Olives room and some other bits and pieces. So far I have spent $70 on the sideboard and $30 on a little side table. All second hand.
Deleteso there you have it, new lounge room for $00
xo em
Love her sketch! Pulling couch away from wall is awesome. Allows you to create a cozier conversation space and gives you extra room for storage behind the couches! I am a giant fan of that Featherston chair and dream of the day I can afford even a good replica....

Picturing Captain KK flying through the air from house to house solving interior decorating dilema's! Captain, how do you feel about wearing turquoise lycra?!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog Emily, visiting via Sophie @ Her Library Adventures.
xx
I'm loving that sideboard! What a great find. And pulling the couch away from the wall=awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to redo a room or two in our home! Our bedroom needs help. New color for sure. Any good sites for inspiration you recommend, my dear?
