Road Side Glory

It took a shameless act to obtain this beauty. Perched on the curbside amongst the rubbish she sat, in all her vintagie gory. Fortunately for me, she was located on a quiet street in a leafy suburb.

I swallowed my pride and left the sleeping kids in the car while I reshuffled the contents of the boot and rammed that sucker in.  Done.

New desk for me, the other one turned out to be a little wonky. I'm thinking a coat of white paint and some new wallpaper to the top. Maybe leaving the legs as they are....

Any suggestions my stylish friends (Claire, that means you)?

linking up with Sophie, as you do on a sunday.

  1. I would have done the same ! Just make sure you do as I and throw one thing out or donate for every new one :) I love the desk I would have gotten it. Look there was a posh yardsale on a posh street on a Sat I was by Monday to see their garbage !

  3. Score!
I'm glad you asked for my advice, cause I was gonna give it anyway.

Loving these knobs (one two three) from anthropologie as a nod to the graffiti desk that almost was.

If you want a pull (not a knob) ...ahem... this would work nicely with the freedom chair.

If you want something more whimsical how gorgeous are these and these?

And lets just go all out anthropologie (because they're fabulous and 'cause lets face it, you ain't paying me for this so I'm not gonna invest too much time in researching ;) ).

I think these lofty larks would look rather bright and chirpy on the top (and will look killer with the chair). If you do go with the larks, I'd probably opt for a simple knob like this though (or the aqua pull I mentioned earlier).

    Whaddaya think? X

  12. You've already seen my curbside find so you have the proof that I too am completely shameless and on a school run no less. Looking forward to the after photos, surely in a heck of a lot less time than my four month tragedy.melx

  13. Well done! I did my first road side pick up of vintage the other day. I have only ever picked up a couple of things before this (baby walker and a plastic ride on motorbike). It is a funny feeling, always give me a little giggle but a red face. Lol Sherry :)
