This week I'm grateful for Dads (surprise! It's so original of me). My dad, father in law and Husband are the 'dads' in my world- and I can tell you with ease and honesty that these men are excellent. Each in their own way, with their own strengths and skills.

Above photos by UberTim (i can call him that right?)
A little while ago I wrote about my darling Dad ( seen in the last two pics), I thought it timely to revisit it.
For The Love Of Pa
There are many wonderful things about my Dad. He is gentle, quietly spoken, a good listener, patient, kind, understanding and enjoys beer, rugby and all the good stuff. He is sentimental, a hoarder and has great respect for tradition.
I love him, and so does the Young Man, calling him Pa- a name Dad had chosen for himself long before grand babies were on the scene. It's a sign of respect and love for his own grandfather.
The Young Man simply adores him, affectionately calling him Parpie when summonsing him from whatever he is doing. These two, Pa and the Young Man, have their own traditions. On every visit they wander up to the very back of the yard to check the vegies, see how they are growing, pull a couple of weeds and check the rain gage. Then it's off to the shed. They walk and chat and discover and learn returning to the house at their leisure with a fresh pea or two in hand.

My heart swells with love when I think about the dads in my life.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your Young Man has a great relationship with Pa. I wish my parents lived closer so that my children can experience the same kind of relationship. We visit (Europe) once a year for 5-6 weeks, but it's not the same. Happy Fathers Day to the fathers in your life!
ReplyDeletehow much do we love a man that loves our kids, hey? beautiful pics and words!
ReplyDeleteOh I am love with your pictures and your blog ! These are so so sweet
ReplyDeleteThese photos aren't ALL by Tim???!? Could have fooled me - they are so gorgeous, Em! And yes, Dad's are orright. x
ReplyDeleteI like how you wrote about the special traditions your father is now establishing with your son. I think that is beautiful. I'm a sentimental sort of person so things like traditions make me quite nostaligic. Sadly, we live interstate from the rest of my family so it makes for very infrequent contact. So nice to visit a new blog! Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteI had a Pa too... such a lovely name.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the men in your life too. Here's to Dads and Pas.
Beautiful words and beautiful pictures. So glad to be introduced to you and your gorgeous blog through Maxabella loves.

I love Grandaddies, especially having them around when you're not used to it.
So special.
