Beautiful Bird Mobile

I first bought my sewing machine just after The Young Man was born. I had never sewn/sewed before and needed some super simple things to start with. After some internet searching I found this amazing tutorial for a bird mobile over at spool.

Since then I have made many a little bird, added ribbon wings, pleated tails, felted eyes and wrapped sticks in wool to ensure them a comfortable perch. I have also received little birds as treasured gifts from dear friends (thanks Bree).

You can see one that is true perfection here, over at my friends place, L is for.

Novice or know all, you should spread some bird love on this Public Holiday.

Find the free downloadable pattern here.

P.s - I have a dream of making a HUGE bird to use like an ottoman in our living room. The kids could ride it, dive onto it and generally get it grubby. Dave has a massive printer at work and printed me off the pattern... just gotta do it. Do it Emily, just do it.
